Engineer-in-Training (Electrical or Process)
Location: Langdon, AB
Type: Full-Time | Office-Based with Some Travel
The Role
JPAK Engineering works on complex projects across oil & gas, power generation, industrial manufacturing, and emerging energy technologies. Our work spans electrical design, control systems and automation, power infrastructure, and process engineering.
As a growing, privately owned engineering firm, JPAK gives EITs the opportunity to contribute across the project lifecycle, work directly with experienced engineers and leadership, and see their designs through to the field.
This role is well suited to engineers who enjoy technical problem-solving, field involvement, and developing skills across multiple disciplines. With a smaller team, exposure to different projects and responsibility often come earlier than they do at larger firms.
What You’ll Work On
- Create detailed CAD drawings, electrical schematics, layouts, schedules, and other design deliverables.
- Perform engineering calculations and develop technical documentation to support detailed design.
- Prepare construction packages, scopes of work, bid documents, and project deliverables.
- Develop and maintain engineering workbooks including I/O lists, load lists, safety matrices, and calculation sheets.
- Design control systems including panel schematics, network diagrams, PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications.
- Participate in site visits, FAT/CAT testing, relay testing, commissioning, inspections, and walkdowns.
- Support project execution through collaboration with contractors, vendors, operations personnel, and senior engineers.
- Research equipment specifications, technical manuals, and vendor documentation to support equipment selection, integration, and troubleshooting.
What You’ll Bring
- Degree in Electrical, Process, or a related engineering discipline.
- Eligibility for EIT membership with APEGA, EGBC, or APEGS.
- New graduates and EITs with 1-3 years of experience are encouraged to apply.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn.
- Comfort working in both office and field environments.
- Openness to feedback and continuous improvement.
- A dependable, team-first attitude.
